Communications sector
The communications sector is responsible for all communications under Turun KY and for ensuring that communications comply with guidelines and the association's brand. The communications sector is also responsible for the overall brand of Turun KY and the long-term planning and development of communications in collaboration with the rest of the board, the Communications Team and various projects.
Turun KY’s board has prepared to divide the communications sector into two separate positions for the upcoming board term. The communications sector will be divided into separate positions for Head of Communications and Head of Media. The communications sector must be thoroughly familiar with the organization and its activities in order to ensure that daily communications across different channels are smooth and timely, and reach the desired audience. The positions also involve a lot of operational work, such as moderating emails and social media content, creating weekly newsletters, and advising operators. The operational work will be divided between the sector on a weekly basis.
Head of Communications
In addition to operational work, the Head of Communications is responsible for Turun KY's written communications and their quality. The role includes ensuring the linguistic quality and clarity of publications, statements, and official documents. The Head of Communications also maintains the association's website and ensures that it is kept up to date. In addition, the role includes moderating email lists, managing website user accounts, and organizing communication training for operators.
The Head of Communications chairs the Communications Team, one of Turun KY's expert institutions. The communications team publishes KYliste five times a year and comes up with ideas on how to develop Turun KY's communications. The Communications Team supports the communications sector in various tasks.
As the Head of Communications, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in communications, writing, and WordPress. A year on the board provides valuable experience for working life in the form of concrete communications skills, teamwork experience, leadership experience, and the ability to work under pressure.
Head of Media
In addition to operational work, the Head of Media is responsible for the visual identity and consistency of Turun KY's communications. The role involves the design and implementation of the association's daily visual communications, such as social media posts and email banners among the board gallery, and other official graphic materials. The Head of Media is responsible for Turun KY's social media channels and also for compiling and editing the Pupuopas and the Bunny Guide. The role also involves participating in the organization of communication training.
The Head of Media acts as the secretary to the Communications Team, one of Turun KY's expert institutions. The Communications Team publishes KYliste five times a year and comes up with ideas on how to develop Turun KY's communications. The Communications Team supports the communications sector in various tasks.
As the Head of Media, you will have the opportunity to develop your visual and communication skills in a variety of ways using social media platforms, Adobe CC software, and Canva. A year on the board provides valuable experience for working life in teamwork, project management, ability to work under pressure, and creative planning.
No previous experience of any of the above tasks or using programs is required for the positions, as you will receive thorough training. Your own interest and motivation will take you a long way! There are two positions available, so there will be close cooperation within the sector.
