Head of Culture and Traditions

What does my board position include?

The Head of Culture and Traditions is, true to the title, responsible for leading the cultural sector of Turun KY. The position includes much more than just acting as the chair of The Cultural Committee, although that is a major part of the role.

The Head of Culture and Traditions is responsible for organizing Turun KY’s Annual Ball and TuKY-Speksi, meaning they are responsible for recruiting producers for these projects and supporting the organizing teams throughout the process. In addition, The Head of Culture and Traditions holds a mandated seat in The Honorary Committee, which prepares proposals for recipients of acknowledgements and awards.

The Head of Culture and Traditions also organizes formal events related to the association’s history and traditions, such as The Opening of the Annual Ball Season (in cooperation with The Head of Social Affairs) and the Anniversary Celebration of the Student Unions’ Merger together with the TYY Board.

As for The Cultural Committee, Kulttis organizes both traditional and new culture-related events. As the chair of the committee, you have the freedom to produce exactly the kinds of cultural events you and your committee have always dreamed of. The chairperson has the opportunity to guide the committee’s activities in a direction that reflects its members’ ideas and to collaborate with various stakeholders.

In addition to the above, all members of Turku KY’s Board participate in general board work, which includes advocacy, representation, decision-making, and event organization.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me via kulttuuri@tuky.fi. Good luck with the application process! <3
